August 2026 - Big Energy

Heyy, Niece!
Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, many of us learned to question ourselves. We learned to second-guess our instincts, downplay our accomplishments, and make ourselves smaller so other people could feel comfortable. We learned how to shrink our dreams to fit other people's expectations and how to silence parts of ourselves that felt too bold, too loud, too ambitious, or too much. Over time, we started believing that confidence was something reserved for other people—the people who seemed fearless, successful, or certain. But what if confidence isn't something you have to earn? What if the power you've been searching for has been yours all along?
That is the energy we're bringing into August.
BIG Energy Month is not about becoming someone else. It is not about pretending to be confident or performing a version of yourself that looks good on social media. It is about remembering who you were before the world convinced you to play small. Before you started overthinking every decision. Before you started apologizing for taking up space. Before you started believing that everyone else's needs, opinions, and comfort mattered more than your own.
The truth is that many women spend years waiting for permission. We wait until we feel ready. We wait until we feel qualified. We wait until we have everything figured out. We wait until we lose the weight, make the money, heal the wound, find the relationship, or achieve the goal. We convince ourselves that confidence is waiting on the other side of accomplishment. Yet the women we admire most are rarely the women who had all the answers. They are the women who moved forward before they felt ready. They are the women who trusted themselves enough to take the next step anyway.
There comes a point in every woman's journey when she realizes that constantly seeking approval is exhausting. No matter how much you accomplish, there will always be someone who thinks you're doing too much. No matter how kind, thoughtful, or careful you are, there will always be someone who misunderstands you.
The moment you stop building your life around other people's opinions is the moment you begin reclaiming your own power.
That is where BIG Energy lives. Not in perfection. Not in performance. In self-trust.
For women of color, this can feel especially revolutionary. We are often praised for being strong, dependable, and selfless. We become experts at carrying responsibilities, solving problems, and showing up for everyone else. Yet we are rarely encouraged to center ourselves. We are rarely told that our dreams deserve attention too. We are rarely reminded that we can be both caring and ambitious, both compassionate and confident, both nurturing and unapologetic. Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that our value came from what we could do for others rather than who we are. This month is about breaking that cycle.
It is about allowing yourself to be seen. It is about celebrating your accomplishments without immediately minimizing them. It is about speaking up when you have something to say. It is about honoring your growth instead of constantly focusing on how far you still have to go. It is about walking into rooms with the quiet confidence of someone who knows she belongs there. Not because everyone approved of her presence, but because she finally approved of herself.
The most powerful thing about BIG Energy is that it has very little to do with being loud.
Some of the most powerful women you'll ever meet are calm, grounded, and secure. They do not need to announce their worth because they know it. They are not chasing validation because they have already validated themselves. They are not waiting for permission because they understand that their life belongs to them. Their confidence comes from knowing who they are, what they value, and what they refuse to compromise.

Some of y'all are waiting for someone to crown you. Niece, the crown has been yours. Wear it accordingly.
As you move through this month, I want you to pay attention to the places where you've been making yourself smaller. Notice where you've been holding back your voice, your gifts, or your dreams. Notice where you've been waiting for someone else to tell you that you're ready. Then challenge yourself to take one step forward anyway. Send the email. Apply for the opportunity. Wear the outfit. Share the idea. Set the boundary. Start the project. Trust yourself enough to move. Because here's the truth, Niece: the life you're dreaming about will never be built by the version of you that's waiting for permission. Big Energy is your birthright.
You were never meant to spend your life questioning whether you belong. You were never meant to live as a background character in your own story. You were never meant to dim your light so other people could shine brighter. You were born worthy. You were born enough. You were born with gifts, purpose, and power that no one else can replicate.

Untamed by Glennon Doyle
Glennon Doyle challenges women to stop living according to other people's expectations and start trusting their own voice. This powerful read reminds us that freedom begins when we stop abandoning ourselves to keep others comfortable. As we embrace Big Energy Is Your Birthright, this book encourages us to take up space, trust ourselves, and live unapologetically.
Always rooting for you,
